This month, new blocks have been added to our raw materials yard: four Tournai Stone blocks from the La Roquette quarry, operated by Heidelberg Materials.
At Carrières de Maffle, we are among the last stone workshops in Wallonia still sawing natural stone directly from blocks and rough stone blocks. Every day, our Pedrini wire saw transforms these multi-tonne masses into slabs used to manufacture bespoke stone elements for construction, renovation, and heritage restoration projects.
Renowned for its authentic character, Tournai Stone is particularly sought after for restoration work where preserving the original materials is essential.
The arrival of these new blocks reflects our commitment to continuing to offer a wide range of natural stones while preserving a craft that has become increasingly rare: sawing and shaping stone directly from the block.
